Tuesday, 05 June 2007 11:43
The Nevada Supreme Court has issued an order scheduling a public hearing on June 21, 2007, regarding the amendments proposed by the Justices of the Supreme Court of Nevada to the Code of Judicial Conduct. The amendments to Canons 5C(2) and 5C(3) and related commentary would prohibit fundraising by candidates for the Supreme Court, District Court, and Justice Court in the event their races are not contested at the close of the filing period. Persons interested in participating in the hearing must notify the Clerk of the Court no later than June 20th at 5:00 p.m. The court will also accept written comments on the proposed amendments until June 19, 2007.

The Nevada Supreme Court also issued an order scheduling a public hearing on the operation of the Judicial Council of the State of Nevada. No changes to the rules governing the Judicial Council and the Regional Judicial Councils have been proposed, but the court has requested that representatives of the Judicial Council appear and respond to certain questions set forth in the court's order. The hearing is scheduled for June 21, 2007. Persons interested in participating in the hearing must notify the Clerk of the Court no later than June 20th at 5:00 p.m.
