Thursday, 31 January 2008 13:00
Pahrump Justice of the Peace Tina Brisebill has been named Judge of the Year for 2007 by the Nevada Judges of Limited Jurisdiction (NJLJ) at their winter conference in Laughlin.

NJLJ is the organization of all Justice and Municipal Court judges in the state. Judge Brisebill currently is serving as secretary of the organization.

"There were many judges who could have won this award, but this is the person who definitely deserved it," said Las Vegas Municipal Judge Cedric Kerns, who presented the award to Judge Brisebill and was the 2006 recipient.

Judge Kerns said Judge Brisebill earned the award "not only because she is extremely involved in Nevada's judicial system, but equally as involved in her own community."

Judge Brisebill has been serving the Pahrump judicial system for more than 25 years, first as clerk of the court, then court administrator, and finally justice of the peace.

"It’,s quite an honor to be in the company of the other judges who have won this award," said Judge Brisebill.

She is a member of the American Judges Association, the American Bar Association, and the National Association for Court Management.

In Pahrump, Judge Brisebill is a member of the Pahrump Chamber of Commerce, the hospital board, and was a member and executive of the Rotary Club.

As court clerk, she served as president of the Nevada Association for Court Clerks and Administrators (1991-93) and was named Clerk of the Year in 1990.
