| Supreme Court’s Article 6 Commission Meeting March 26 to Consider Constitutional Issues |

The Nevada Supreme Court's Article 6 Commission has scheduled its next meeting for Wednesday, March 26, at noon to consider constitutional amendments and set its agenda for future activity. The meeting will be videoconferenced from the Nevada Supreme Court courtroom on the 17th floor at the Regional Justice Center in Las Vegas and the Nevada Supreme Court Law Library, room 107, in Carson City. The Commissioners are scheduled to discuss whether to take positions on two potential constitutional changes that could dramatically alter the judiciary –, the creation of an intermediate Court of Appeals (SJR 9) and the merit selection of judges (SJR 2). The Commission has the options to support, oppose or take no position on the matters and will ultimately issue formal statements. Other issues being addressed involve:
Public comment will be taken at the meeting. The Article 6 Commission was formed in November 2006 as a blue ribbon commission to study all aspects of the Nevada Judiciary and make recommendations for changes and improvements. The Commission is composed of private citizens as well as judges and attorneys.
