Former Eighth Judicial District Judge Jack Lehman started the nation’s fifth Drug Court in Clark County in 1992 and former Second Judicial District Judge Peter Breen established Washoe County’s first Drug Court a short time later.

New admittees participating in the admission ceremony must be present at least one-half hour before the ceremony begins and must check in with the Supreme Court Clerk prior to the ceremony. Representatives from the Clerk's Office will be in the Rotunda to collect oaths and take down the names of those participating in the ceremony. There will be special seating for the new lawyers apart from the general audience.

Successful applicants for the February 2010 bar examination are eligible to participate in the ceremony, provided that they have met all admission requirements. Applicants "on hold" have not met all requirements for admission and may not participate in the ceremony.
The Washoe County Bar Association will host a reception immediately following in the Supreme Court Rotunda.

“Justice Hardesty was chosen as the first honoree because he embodies the spirit of public interest,” said PILA President Nick Portz.  “We couldn’t pick a better suited candidate as our first honoree.”

"With the Foreclosure Mediation Program now in its eighth month of operation, we have determined that some additional rule changes are necessary to make the process more efficient and responsive, to benefit both the homeowner and the lender" said Chief Justice Ron Parraguirre.  ]]>
